Faye Fulton was born in the US, but at a very young age she moved, with her family, to Sicily. Growing up in Europe, she was surrounded by people from all sorts of cultures, from all parts of the world, and speaking many different languages. Faye had to clearly communicate with people unfamiliar with her language, customs, and beliefs. Starting at the young age of six, she realized she could get her point across with stories.
Growing up in Sicily, Faye was exposed to people who understood the importance of story and history. Italians are very passionate and articulate people and they are also extraordinary storytellers. In Italy, family stories are treasured and they are proud to share their stories. To an Italian, it is just as important to pass down stories from generation to generation as it is to pass down the recipe of their grandmother’s Marinara Sauce.
Faye considers herself very fortunate to have grown up in a foreign country and be exposed to storytellers from all over the world. Her childhood was an amazing training ground for storytelling. Today her stories often address diversity and include multi-cultural components.
Using her storytelling expertise, Faye frequently works with nonprofits to help them with their fundraising events. She also works with museums and offers their patrons a unique museum experience by sharing unexpected stories behind the art, engaging stories about an artist, or well-researched stories about an exhibit,
In addition to being a spoken word artist, Faye is a writer. She tells stories she writes herself at corporate events, fundraisers, conferences, festivals, museums, and other venues. She is a long-standing member of the National Speakers Association; she is a published author; she has been a Story Slam storyteller at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee; and her stories can be heard on NPR affiliate stations.
